Obama Rally 2008

Tags: , , , , , ,

I waited in line 4 hours just to see Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton in Orlando on 10/20/2008.

Although I was far away and couldn’t see the stars of the show, I’m happy that I was amongst the 40,000 DIVERSE supports who attended.

Anonymous father and son at the rally (I wish I knew who they were so I could send them this photo).  Looking at the boy’s eyes, I’m sure that being there that day has touched and affected him in some way.  Are we looking into the innocent eyes of a future president?  We’ll see (at least we know now that it’s possible).

In my heart of hearts, I believe that Obama is the candidate who can bring this country together.  Weather we sink down into another great depression, or if we rise above the abysmal failures of the Republican party, we’d at least be united under Obama.

Please Make Him a Sammich

Once again, Florida brings you the finest examples in human intelligence ANYWHERE.  Can we do something right for once?….I hope so because if not, I’ll have to move soon.

If you haven’t heard already, this man in Jacksonville called 911 because the people at Subway didn’t make his sandwich right.  When he went back to the shop to have them fixed it, he got belligerent and they threw him out the shop.  He then proceeded to call 911, yes, 911!  Of course he’s under arrest for making false emergency calls.

On Reginald Peterson’s side, I understand that he was angry about his sandwiches being wrong.  With the price of gas these days, he needs to pinch pennies and couldn’t just let the $12.00 worth of sandwiches go.  He probably felt that he had every right to call the police.  He was “keepin’ it real” but it went allllll wrong.  If he’s got at least one brain cell, he’s probably more embarrassed than you can imagine.  Poor guy needs to move to Canada or something.

Now, if I was one of those Subway employees, I’d be laughing my ass off!  First problem is, they are paid to make sandwiches, not to deal with lunatics yelling at them over some missing friggin sauce.  It was probably so satisfying to kick him out…then even better when the police came to pick him up.  I wish I could interview one of them, seriously, give me a call!

Please someone, make this man a sammich!

The News Is Scary

Tags: , , , ,

I swear guys, there are crazy people in this world, and the man from this story is one of them.  Apparently, he was riding on a Greyhound bus in Canada and seemed completely normal until about 8:30 P.M. when he decided to begin STABBING the poor victim sleeping next to him.  Whitnesses said he stabbed the man approximately 50 – 60 times before he proceeded to decapitate him (in front of everyone!).  If you didn’t know already, you should stay your behind off of the bus for a while.

A 40-year-old man is in custody in Manitoba after a young man was stabbed — and, witnesses said, decapitated — aboard a Greyhound bus travelling through the province overnight.

The RCMP would not confirm the reports of beheading, saying only that a stabbing took place around 8:30 p.m. CT on an eastbound Greyhound bus on the Trans-Canada Highway about 20 kilometres west of Portage la Prairie.

The suspect, believed to be from outside Manitoba, was arrested early Thursday morning after a standoff lasting several hours and remains in RCMP custody .

Charges have not yet been laid, and the suspect has not yet been interviewed, said RCMP spokesman Staff Sgt. Steve Colwell, adding that he could release no further information on the investigation….[continue reading here]

Report: IT Admin Locks up San Francisco’s Network (PC World)

- A network administrator has locked up a multimillion dollar computer system for San Francisco that handles sensitive data and is refusing to give police the password, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday.

The employee, 43-year-old Terry Childs, was arrested Sunday. He gave some passwords to police, which did not work, and refused to reveal the real code, the paper reported.

The new FiberWAN (Wide Area Network) handles city payroll files, jail bookings, law enforcement documents and official e-mail for San Francisco. The network is functioning but administrators have little or no access.

Childs, who remains in custody, is accused of improperly tampering with computer systems and causing a denial of service, said Kamala Harris, San Francisco’s district attorney, on Monday afternoon.

“The bail has been set at $5 million, and the exposure in this case if he were convicted on all counts would be seven years in prison,” Harris said.

Harris said it’s unknown why Childs tampered with the system. The Chronicle, however, reported that Childs was disciplined recently for poor performance. Childs worked in the Department of Technology for San Francisco, making close to US$150,000 a year, the paper reported.

City officials told the paper that Childs may have caused millions in damage while also rigging the network so that other third parties could monitor traffic, posing a huge data security risk. He is also alleged to have installed a tracing system to monitor communications related to his personnel case.

(Robert McMillan in San Francisco contributed to this report.)

All I can say is DAMN!

We all may need to go back to typewriters and filing cabinets!  If my livelihood is at the whim of some deranged, disgruntled sys. admin, I’d rather revert back to the yesteryear’s frustration of long lines, and tall piles of paperwork.  Unfortunately…we are ALL at risk of having something like this go down.  Computers are secure, but you better believe that if someone wants to f* up your day, they’ll find a way to.  I’m sure we’ve ALL experienced a “free day of solitaire” at work because of computer/network problems (Now imagine this happening to an entire CITY).  We can’t do ANYTHING without computers these days!  The officials of San Francisco are about to test out some new waterboarding techniques on Mr. Childs.  He’ll be squealing with the password in no time.

We all enjoy the luxury of sharing information freely on the internet, but at what cost?  Network security specialists, and programmers are more valuable now more than ever…  but you better not piss them off! LOL

Are we too dependent on computers?

Florida Prison Guard Raped and Murdered

murderer(CBS/ AP) Authorities say an inmate raped and murdered a female corrections officer at a Daytona Beach prison.

The Department of Corrections reports that Enoch Hall attacked Officer Donna Fitzgerald Wednesday night while she was on duty at the Tomoka Correctional Institution. The Port Orange woman had worked at the prison for 13 years.

WESH-TV in Orlando reported that Fitzgerald, 50, discovered Hall hiding in a warehouse area of the prison after lights-out on Wednesday night. The inmate then attacked her.

State prison records show that Hall, 39, is already serving two life sentences for sexual battery with a weapon and kidnapping convictions from a 1993 case.

“Words cannot express the sorrow I feel over the loss of our correctional officer,” said Department of Corrections Secretary Walter McNeil. “The entire department grieves the murder of one of our finest officers, and we pray for the victim’s family during this difficult time.”

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the attack. No charges have been filed

This child needs some help!

And I’ve got that help around my waist in the form of a BELT!

I recently saw this smack down on the news and I was PISSED! For one, I despise disrespectful, misbehaving children. For two, I have friends who are teachers and I would GO OFF if they were ever harmed while on the job. For three, I just keep imagining myself in that poor teacher’s position! I would have had to take my belt off and beat that girl ’till she learned how to act right !

In case you don’t know, the teacher is the one wearing the white shirt.

The sad thing about it is that this substitute teacher may lose her job over this. They claim that she could have diffused the situation, being that she was the ADULT in the situation. In my eyes, once someone hits you, you are past the point of ‘diffusion’. It’s smack down time at that point. She could have run away if she wanted to, but F THAT! LOL

What do you think? Should this teacher be persecuted?
